Hi everyone, we are saddened to announce that we will not be holding any PCN Dance Practices over this break. Due to the recent COVID-19 (AKA Coronavirus) outbreak, it is advisable that people stay home and practice social distancing in order to prevent the spread of the disease.
Regarding PCN, we are unsure as to when it will be as we may not be prepared for it in May due to having no practices this break. One option we came up with was postponing the show until the First Quarter for the 2020-2021 school year. This is not set and stone however; we will be sending out more updates to come regarding practices and the status of PCN. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us through remind. Make sure to stay healthy and safe in this dire situation.
Hello PAYO family!
We are finding it hard to schedule practices with everyone, so we made dedicated WhatsApp group chats for each dance in the PCN lineup. Please join the group chat for each dance you signed up for on the google form we sent out recently. We will still be using remind for general updates and practices.

Volunteer jobs and descriptions:
Check-In Table: We need everyone’s name (spelled correctly as this will be in the final book), email address, phone number, and a rating of how involved they would like to be in this project. There will be a google form to be filled out, and if the entrance gets clogged up, we will have paper versions as well that will be available to fill out.
“Bookshelves”: I will have extremely large printouts of photos of children’s bookshelves that I have encountered in bookstores and libraries. There will be markers, pens and pencils and people are encouraged to annotate these photos.
“Book Covers”: There will be papers where families, students, or parents can imagine and draw the cover of a book that they wish existed.
“Oral Storytellers”: Volunteers will share stories from Filipino culture or Filipino-American culture. Elderly members of the community encouraged to volunteer!
“Our Oral Histories”: There will be a section where oral storytellers can share stories. The volunteer here will be responsible for making sure these stories are recorded. People may want to sit in and listen to the storyteller, and the volunteer should help organize this.
“Children’s Storytime”: Local San Diego actors or actresses read stories to children. After the storybooks are read out loud, have a short discussion with children.
“Discussion Board”: There will be large chart paper up with many questions posted on it. People are encouraged to answer the questions, ask new questions, respond to one another’s questions or responses.
“The Bigger Picture”: There will be several articles from major newspapers and scholarly journals and magazines that help explain the “why” of this project. The articles will be available to read and slips of paper and post its will be available to write down any responses or annotate any of the texts.
“Everything Else”: There will be a box available for people to drop in anonymous questions, concerns or suggestions.
